WELCOME – VELKOMMEN!
Welcome to the Danish Lutheran Church and Cultural Center – and welcome to our Sunday & Seasonal Services and events.
A LITTLE HISTORY:
The Danish Lutheran Church of Southern California was founded on June 5, 1906, by Danish Immigrants living in Los Angeles. The humble start was the beginning of now over 100 years in existence. The First Danish Church structure was built in 1916 on 46th Street in LA; the growing congregation moved in 1937 into a typical Danish country-style church with a meeting hall and parsonage on the corner of 43rd Street and 3rd Ave in LA.
By 1990 the Danish Community had spread far and wide in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernadino, and San Diego counties, and thus the congregation relocated and build a new church and cultural center in Yorba Linda. With amazing zest and tenacity, the current Church and Cultural center became the new Emmanuel Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church on March 1995.
The Danish Lutheran church proudly carries on the legacy, language, and Lutheran traditions of the native Danish Lutheran church, and the unique Scandinavian sense of community and fellowship. At the same time, the Church and Congregation also serve and actively take part in American Lutheran Denomination. The Danish Lutheran church is part of ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America) and the pastor is currently serving as Dean for Rejoice Conference in Pacifica Synod.
